چکیده

The present study aimed to identify the trends of changes in physiological indicators and subjective restorativeness response audio-visual interactions environment. Four scenarios types were presented using four different modalities (video-sound, image-sound, sound-only, video-only; each modality was evaluated by independent groups subjects). responses restoration subjects measured assess between modalities. These data also analysed determine differences dynamic static visual presentations. We found that with modalities, heart rate (HR), variability (HRV) calculated standard deviation NN intervals (SDNNHRV), high-frequency band HRV power spectrum (HFHRV), alpha reactivity on electroencephalography, skin temperature (ST) decreased; however, beta EEG conductance level (SCL) increased. With auditory SDNNHRV, HF-HRV, ST, respiration depth SCL Use images sound reproduce natural environment evoked more comfort restorativeness. findings could provide insights for theory restorative

Computationally Created Soundscapes with Audio Metaphor

Soundscape composition is the creative practice of processing and combining sound recordings to evoke auditory associations and memories within a listener. We present Audio Metaphor, a system for creating novel soundscape compositions. Audio Metaphor processes natural language queries derived from Twitter for retrieving semantically linked sound recordings from online user-contributed audio dat...

Sensing Urban Soundscapes

Noise pollution is one of the most serious quality-of-life issues in urban environments. In New York City (NYC), for example, more than 80% of complaints1 registered with NYC’s 311 phone line2 are noise complaints. Noise is not just a nuisance to city dwellers as its negative implications go far beyond the issue of quality-of-life; it contributes to cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment,...

Crosscultural Effects in Audio-visual Interactions

In this study, the evaluation of audio-visual interaction regarding to the sounds and colours of trains was investigated. Different pictures of trains were modified in their colors and presented on a liquid crystal screen in a sound proof room with the appropriate sound of the train. The subjects judged the loudness of the sound-picture stimuli with the method “free magnitude estimation”. At fi...

Audio-visual interactions in loudness evaluation

In psychophysical experiments, the influence of the presentation of visual stimuli on the loudness evaluation of sounds from traffic noise has been investigated. In a first experiment it was shown that the colour of the visual stimulus can influence loudness evaluation in such a way that – for same acoustic stimulus – the loudness of a red train can be rated 15 % higher than the loudness of a g...

Audio-visual interactions in product sound design

Consistent product experience requires congruity between product properties such as visual appearance and sound. Therefore, for designing appropriate product sounds by manipulating their spectral-temporal structure, product sounds should preferably not be considered in isolation but as an integral part of the main product concept. Because visual aspects of a product are considered to dominate t...
